Bowling Green State University was established in 1910
as a teacher-training institution. A total of 304 students were enrolled
that first year, with a faculty of 21. The first bachelor’s degrees were awarded in 1917.
In 1929, the College of Education and the College of Liberal
Arts were added to offer four year degree programs. Bowling Green attained
full university status in 1935, the same year the College of Business
Administration and Graduate Programs were added. Over the next five
decades, several more colleges and programs were
added, as well as a satellite campus now known to
us as Firelands College.
