Introduction to Online Course Design

This workshop will include important planning and pedagogical
considerations that need to be made when designing and developing materials
for online use. Also included will be topics ranging from the blue/green
sheeting process to course building concepts.

IDEAL faculty development sessions are free for Bowling Green State University faculty, staff and graduate teaching assistants. You will be notified via email if a session is cancelled. If you need to cancel a reservation, please call 419-372-6792 at least three days prior to the session.

Online Course Facilitation

Learn the tips and tricks of facilitating a course. Topics will include everything from setting student expectations to time management. The course management system, Blackboard, will be used to support the discussion topics.

Designing and Developing an Online Course

With the help of an IDEAL staff member participants in this workshop will discover the important planning and pedagogical considerations that need to be made when designing and developing materials for online use. The only things we ask you to bring are ideas!

Effective Online Course Syllabus - strategies and techniques

This workshop has been designed for those interested in creating a syllabus for an online course. Participants in this workshop are encouraged to bring samples of the current syllabi used in their web-enhanced courses. Experiential exercises will allow participants to learn not just from the workshop facilitator but from each other.

Encouraging Academic Honesty

Academic honesty is a concern for faculty in any teaching environment. In this seminar, faculty will learn course design techniques which limit opportunities for academic dishonesty in an online setting. Participants will also explore options available in the Blackboard assessment tool which can help to prevent cheating during an online exam. Participants in this workshop are encouraged to share experiences and provide their own insight into ways of deterring certain forms of academic dishonesty in an online environment.
