The Endorsement in Gifted Education at Bowling
Green State University has been designed with
the practicing professional in mind. Students
are provided a strong foundation in the history,
theory, and current practices in the field
of gifted education. Students gain knowledge
and understanding of the psychological and
educational needs of the gifted. All courses
are practitioner oriented and allow for authentic
learning experiences.
The Endorsement in Gifted Education has
been designed for the persons who hold licensure
in another field of education in the State
of Ohio. Courses in this program conform
to state guidelines and align with standards
recommended by the Council for Exceptional
Children. Coursework includes explorations
into the history, current trends, and legislation
related to identification and programming
for the gifted. The sequence includes courses
in the psychology of the gifted; curriculum
development; critical and creative thinking;
as well as, special topics like social/emotional
functioning and educational options for the
twice-exceptional.
